2-hour Guided Tour
Our Cross-Country Ski Tours offer:
We keep our tours small and private, customized tours are available. Just give us a call! Our guide to guest ratio is 1:6, ensuring an amazing experience.
Offered at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., our 2-hour tours can be scenic photo tours or more advanced to meet the group skills.
Whether you are looking for a casual ski through a meadow or to zip down some fun hills, our tours can be customized to fit a variety of ages and athletic levels.
Our guided tours ditch the groomed trail and head into the meadows and trees for a more scenic experience. It’s a great way to explore the beauty of the forests in the winter. Our skis are wider than traditional cross-country skis, making them ideal for off-trail ski touring.
Skis, boots and poles are included with your tour. We offer cross-country touring skis with scales and metal edges.
Our guides have wilderness first aid certifications and avalanche training, in addition to being experienced outdoorsmen & women. And while they might spend their off-time skiing gnarly backcountry lines, they are also skilled in breaking down the basics for introductory tours. It’s our mission to provide you with meaningful outdoor experiences, so you can expect your guide to be friendly, authentic and professional.
Shuttle from and back to Steamboat available. Groups of 1-4 people pay a rate of $20 per person. Groups of 5 or more ride free. Call to schedule at time of booking.
Never Nordic skied?
Here's why you should give it a try:
It’s a great way to explore natural settings. When a blanket of several feet of snow covers the ground up here, a pair of skis is your ticket to freedom! On our tours, we easily navigate through natural landscapes that would be difficult to access during the summer.
It’s great exercise.
Cross-country touring skis feature a free heel, which enables us to trek up hills and earn our glide down! You’ll want to dress in layers because you’ll warm up as you get moving. There is just something so invigorating about getting the heart pumping in the crisp air and beautiful scenery. If you’re looking to be refreshed, this is your activity!
Low impact & less high stakes.
Cross-country skiing is a low impact activity, making it a good option for folks with joint issues. It also isn’t as high speed or high stakes as downhill skiing, so it appeals to a broad range of people.
It’s exhilarating.
Ever hear that cross-country skiing is boring? We’re here to dispel that myth! With its unparalleled access to nature and varied terrain, our nordic ski tours make for a great winter adventure.
Experience Steamboat Like a Local
Back in the day, when the valley was first settled, this was how folks got around to friends’ houses or to the general store. And to some extent it’s still a valid way of getting around! From the occasional ski to work here at the Outpost or the daily “walk” with the dog, cross-country skiing is an age-old activity firmly rooted in the daily lives of mountain cultures.
